Robert Cattrell

In 1939, George W. Cattrell and his sons began business as a small plumbing contractor in Toronto, Ohio.  Three generations later, Cattrell Companies remains in Toronto and is one of the tri-state’s most viable family-owned businesses.

During the 1970's and 1980's, sons George V. “Buster” Cattrell and Bob Cattrell worked to expand the capabilities, creating a general contracting division, an electrical division and adding two fabrication shops, one for piping and one for sheet metal.  With the already busy mechanical division (HVAC and plumbing) in full swing, these added departments completed the one-stop, stream-lined construction shop it is now.

Today, George W’s grandson, CEO and President George R. “Buzz” Cattrell and granddaughter Christine Cattrell Hargrave, CFO and Secretary-Treasurer, strive to carry on the company’s tradition of excellence.  With more than 70 years in business, Cattrell Companies is a community-involved operation whose primary focus stays on you, the customer.  The Cattrell mission is to provide efficiency in planning, integrity, expertise and value with a commitment to the highest degree of customer satisfaction.

Greeting you at Cattrell Companies is the finest team of support staff in the industry.  Linda Bodnar, Office Manager, handles accounts payable and receivable, as well as managing the fleet of trucks and equipment and ordering supplies for office and management needs.  Annette Cooper is the extremely efficient and accurate payroll clerk.  She prepares the complicated pay for each of the eight to ten unions being represented on Cattrell’s field staff.  In addition to these reporting duties, she is the Safety Secretary, making sure that each job and job trailer is supplied with all needed safety supplies, postings and MSDS sheets.  She is a faithful attender at the Jefferson County Safety Council meetings.

Cindy Hill-King is the IT (information technology) person, helping the other staff people to become comfortable with the complicated and frequently up-dated programs that each division uses.  She trouble shoots problems and finds remedies that the rest of the staff can count on when difficulties surface.

General Division:

The general construction division is led by Brad Burkhead, an experienced estimator and project manager.  Brad’s particular skills are in the area of industrial work, where he can listen to the client’s concept or problem at a steel mill or manufacturing plant and quickly discern remedies for improving areas more efficiently.

For commercial construction, Donnie Teichman and Chris Barcus, both fully trained carpenter journeymen, provide estimating service and job site project management to ensure that the contracted work is performed on time and on budget.  With minimal change orders as their goal, they strive to inform clients of cost saving construction materials and methods.
